About me.

Hello! and thanks a million for visiting my site.
Please sign the guestbook, and also feel totally free to comment on any of my images, etc.

I'm James MacDonald, Jimmy to most people who know me.

I am a 34 year old Swimming Teacher and (very) amatuer photographer from Campbeltown in Argyll.
I have had an absolute passion for birds and wildlife, and also for photography in general for a long time now.
But around eighteen months ago I decided to take up wildlife imaging a bit more seriously.
I originally had a little 'point and shoot' job; which, while fun and simple to use didn't really satisfy me with its image quality.
I then splashed out on a mid range DSLR, accompanied in time by a decent lens.
I had some success with these, but around two months ago, I felt I needed to upgrade again - so this time treated myself to a more expensive semi professional camera, and things are now starting to take off....no pun intended!
My main interest lies with Raptors, especially Golden eagles and Hen Harriers.
Unfortunately, (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) these birds only live in the wildest, most remote areas of my home county.
Accordingly 10 or 15 mile treks in the hope of a close encounter - and a good image are not unusual for me,
but that's what I live for, and hopefully my photographs will give the viewer as much pleasure as I had trying to get them.

I also enjoy writing about my subjects, and there are some extracts available to read in the:'' my writing '' section on the home page.
At this time all my stuff is taken in south Kintyre,
although in the future I hope to travel, and explore the country with my camera a little more.
Also, soon I will be adding a sales option to most of the images, be it digital prints, or physical, or both.
Thanks for looking.
